The Quilters' Guild of East Texas (QGET) was founded in 1981. The purpose of Quilters' Guild of East Texas is to preserve the heritage of quilting, to assist members in developing a high quality of excellence in quilting, to be a source of information and inspiration, and to provide a gathering of people with a common interest. QGET is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. Membership in the guild is open to anyone interested in quilts -- beginning, intermediate, and advanced quilters, as well as collectors and admirers. Dues are paid annually.
Monthly guild meetings are held the second Thursday of the month at First Christian Church, 4202 South Broadway, Tyler, Texas. Meetings provide an opportunity for quilt enthusiasts to enjoy fellowship, fun, speakers and programs covering many aspects of quilting. The monthly meeting also includes "Show and Tell" where members and guests present their recent work. Non-members are invited to attend twice as guests before joining.
To further share their work and be a source of inspiration in the community, the QGET has sponsored an annual quilt show every year of its existence save the pandemic years. Another tradition of the Guild is the making of charity quilts benefiting the community. Currently the guild is actively supporting the making of quilts and “go bag” pillowcases for foster children. Additionally, guild members are actively participating in the national Quilts of Valor program.
QGET is headquartered in Tyler, Texas.
